I just finished this study for the second time, with about 2 years in between. I can’t recommend it enough.
For me- it’s a reminder of the beauty and thoughtfulness and richness of it all. I love God more and feel more loved by him after finishing.
It’s a great time to read If ever you’re burnt out by a challenging book of the Bible or feeling spiritually dry. If you’re feeling on fire for academic study + the Word, this might feel too zoomed out for that season. Its purpose is not an Intellectual challenge. It’s more of soft place to land and a space for God to speak to you of his beauty + sovereignty.
Joshua’s writing style is captivating, and personal anecdote is far from the bulk of the study.
I will come back to this book time and time again. This year it helped me re-establish rhythms with the Lord in a morning routine- it’s just what I needed.
